Anita’s book is a personal account of her journey of self-discovery that reveals – in the most approachable and compelling storytelling – universal truths about life and how to navigate it that anyone can benefit from.

An underlying message here is that one’s mindset can help make the journey with cancer easier to bear and taking the time to achieve that mindset will reap its benefits not just through sickness, but in every aspect of life. Anita, in her honest words, tells us how she came to the realizations that changed her outlook on life (and how she perceives herself), and then how those realizations gave her the will and ability to navigate life and its challenges.

For those affected by cancer or another life threatening illness, the artfully micro-portioned chapters can serve as a helpful companion that acknowledges the extremely difficult (physical and emotional) challenges one can face, and then delivers an enlightening, hopeful perspective for managing them and moving forward. For me, someone lucky enough not to have suffered from cancer (but experiencing chronic migraines), the many moments of self-reflection were the hidden gems, revealing truths I could easily apply in my own life about navigating ups and downs, letting go, being in the moment and focusing on what’s really important.
